Modern Hire is now HireVue

HireVue announced its acquisition of Modern Hire on 9 May 2023. Here is what that means if you are holding an invitation with the old name on it.

Three outlined sheets of paper fanned in a stack; the front sheet carries a solid blue block where a quotation sits, and a single blue rule runs from it out to the edge of the page.
Short answer

Modern Hire is part of HireVue. HireVue announced the acquisition on 9 May 2023 and said Modern Hire became part of its family of solutions with immediate effect.

So if you are preparing for something that calls itself a Modern Hire interview, the useful reading is the HireVue section of this site — the format, what the AI does and does not read, whether your screen is recorded, and how long you get. Those pages are linked at the bottom.

What this changes for you, and what it does not

Practically, not much about the experience. It is still a recorded screen with nobody on the other end, still built by your employer rather than by the vendor, and still governed by settings the employer chose. What changes is which documentation is current: HireVue's candidate material describes the platform that now owns this product, and Modern Hire's own pages describe a company that was acquired over three years ago.

What we deliberately will not tell you is which underlying system your particular assessment runs on. HireVue has not published a consolidation timeline that we could find, so anyone claiming to know whether your Modern Hire link is "really" HireVue now is guessing.

If your invitation names a different vendor

What we could not verify
  • Whether your assessment runs on the old Modern Hire stack or on HireVue's. No public consolidation timeline could be found, so this page does not guess.
  • Whether Modern Hire's specific assessment products still behave as their old documentation describes. That documentation predates the acquisition.
  • Your timings. As on every platform in this section, the employer sets them and your invitation is the only authority.

Sources

Every factual claim above comes from one of these, and each is Modern Hire's own material. All were read on 29 August 2026. Where a vendor does not publish something, this page says so rather than borrowing another vendor's number.
