How NailedIt scores your mock interview
An AI grader reads the transcript of your mock interview and scores it on five dimensions, each from 0 to 100. Your overall score is the average of the five. The same rubric is used every time, so a second attempt at the same job can be compared with the first.
The five dimensions
- Answer Structure. Interviewers listen for Situation, Task, Action, Result. An answer with no concrete outcome reads as an unproven claim. The Result is what separates a story from an assertion.
- Judgment & Problem-Solving. How you reason through a problem: what you check first, when you escalate or ask for help, and why. Sound reasoning under uncertainty is what a scenario question is actually testing.
- Specificity & Evidence. Concrete details prove the experience is real: the project, the numbers, what YOU personally did. Generic "I would" answers score low because anyone can say them.
- Role Relevance. Whether your answers speak to this job, not a job in general. Interviewers are listening for someone who understood what the role actually involves.
- Communication & Presence. Clarity, pacing, and composure. Rambling, trailing off, or losing the thread costs you even when the content underneath is right.
For nursing roles the same five are named for clinical interviews: STAR Structure, Clinical Judgment, Specificity & Evidence, Role Relevance, Communication & Warmth.
Why fixed criteria
Structured interviews, where every candidate is judged against the same criteria, predict job performance better than unstructured ones: a validity of .42 against .19 in the largest recent re-analysis (Sackett, Zhang, Berry and Lievens, Journal of Applied Psychology, 2022). That is why NailedIt scores against five fixed things instead of giving you a general impression.
What else is measured
Alongside the five scores, the scorecard shows arithmetic on your transcript: how long each answer ran, your speaking pace when you answered out loud, and how many filler words you used. These are counted, not judged by a model.
What the score is not
- Not a prediction of whether you will be hired. It measures how your answers held up in a practice interview. Nobody can tell you what an employer will decide.
- Not compared with other people. Your score is against the rubric, not against other users.
- Not a judgment of your voice, face or accent. Only the words in the transcript are scored. There is no camera in the mock interview.
- Not a person. The interviewer and the grader are AI models, and every screen says so.
What is free, and what the plan adds
Your first two scored mock interviews are free, and each shows your overall score, all five dimension scores, any red flags and your full transcript. The monthly plan ($19 a month) adds the explanation of why you lost points on each dimension, your weakest answers rewritten with the reasons the new version scores higher, and drills for what you missed.
