Hireflix interview questions, and the five-minute default

The three settings, and who chose them

Hireflix's help center documents think time and the answering time limit as things the recruiter configures when building the interview, and retakes as something that can be set per question. So the honest answer to "how long do I get?" is the same here as on every other platform in this section: your employer decided, and your invitation is the only place the real numbers appear.

• Think time: set by the recruiter. By default, Hireflix starts recording 3 seconds after the question finishes. The recruiter can instead give 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or unlimited time.
• Answering time limit: five minutes by default, per Hireflix's help center. The recruiter can change it.
• Retakes: configurable per question. A recruiter can also clear specific answers after a submission so you can re-record just those, using the same link.

Hireflix interview questions: the list Hireflix gives recruiters

Your employer writes the questions, so nobody can show you your exact set. What Hireflix can show is what it suggests to the people writing them. This is the sample list in its help center, word for word. Its advice to recruiters is to pick 3 to 6.

13. Can you describe your ideal co-worker?
14. What do you think we could do better or differently?
15. Do you have any questions for us?

Hireflix's example interview has the same shape in three questions: tell me about yourself, a soft-skills question, and a question about the position itself. Its 2026 blog for recruiters adds story questions such as "Tell me about a time you solved a difficult problem", "Tell me about a time you had to make a decision under pressure" and "Why are you leaving your current role?"

So plan for one opener, one or two stories, and one "why this job". You can write the opener and the "why this job" answer tonight. Rehearse the stories out loud against a timer, because a story is where a five-minute limit lets an answer drift.

Is Hireflix legit, and can it see your screen?

Hireflix is a real company that sells one-way video interview software to employers. The invitation email comes from Hireflix on the employer's behalf, and the link in it is personal to you. Hireflix's help center also tells employers to send their own email first, so you recognize the company before the invitation arrives. If you are unsure, check the employer: does the email name a job you applied for, at a company you can find outside that email?

Why a five-minute limit is harder than a two-minute one

A short timer tells you what to do: pick one story, land it, stop. A five-minute window gives you enough rope to restate your resume, wander into a second example, and finish with no result attached to either. Nobody interrupts to bring you back, because nobody is there.

Treat the limit as a ceiling and not a target. If your answer is done at ninety seconds, stop at ninety seconds. Silence after a finished answer reads as control. Four minutes of filler reads as four minutes of filler.
